Finding Truth in  encouragement

Even as an adult, I have missed the mark, missed the voice of reason  because of discouragement and doubt.  

When I was 12 years old, I remember going up to my room and crying because my father made comment about my build. I was a chubby child, (though, cute as a button) and having a skinny twin sister and two older brothers, I felt, well unfit. literally.

RETREAT...

I would retreat and I wouldn't go to dances or go out with groups of friends because I never felt worthy of ...happiness? Fun? I am still unsure of what i felt i didn't deserve. 

The Lesson  and seed of Wisdom

 My father had spent the morning in his office, like Ward Cleaver, to give me the greatest gift of my life. He went through my life, and told me that I why I was so different and special. And he may have said I was his favorite...though something tells me he told all of us that at one time.  He proceeded to tell me about the greats, like Teddy Roosevelt and Churchill, and told me that they all had handicaps, difficulties, outside and inside.

Confidence Completes, Courage and Charisma!

They had  the C. and Carried it with them. CONFIDENCE.  Courage, Charisma. I had the last. I was working on my Courage, but, I didn't have the first. Dad, took out his hand and made me take the invisible C from his palm.  He said, " Now go and use it!" Looking back, it was like a talk with God. My father is God. That's how a child sees a parent when they are young. As a dog looks at  their master, even. But My father gave me that gift. He told me I had these gifts! He appointed me!

So,  What are your telling your kids? 

 Who told you that you weren't good enough? Who told you that you were great? Who told you.... .

In the book of Genesis Adam and Eve went from living carefree and naked to hiding in shame behind fig leaves. The devil told them they were naked. he made them feel shame.  They were tricked, and covered themselves. They walked in shame. God asked "WHO TOLD YOU?" Arn't we all familiar with this scenario? 

In this world we are to heed to the word, because we are created in Gods image.  HE TOLD US.
